Our friend, Andrew Meader stopped by in July to tell us about his Applause Factory production, “Wine Lovers: The Wine Tasting Musical” at Saratoga’s Universal Preservation Hall. We don’t often post about events away from Glens Falls, but this one is special. “Wine Lovers” is a romantic musical set within a real wine-tasting with the audience.
From time to time, the scene here at UnCorked can resemble the musical. We have complementary wine tastings on Friday and Saturday evenings. Now and then, a couple will include a tasting at UnCorked: as part of first date; a place to pause before a show at Aimee’s or in the Wood Theater; or as a “date night” stop while Grandma is watching their toddlers. And yes, there is sometimes singing as well! On a special event day, we may have a musical guest. On past Third Thursday events, William Hale, Mark Rabin, Gary Moon, and Closer Still have performed in our artists’ space. One night, Gisella Case joined KangaRooster to share a few magical duets with our lucky guests.
“Wine Lovers: The Wine Tasting Musical” starts on Tuesday, August 9, and runs until August 21, then flies off to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for September. If you go, please tell us all about it.
Cheers!

We just opened up a bottle of Red Newt – Circle Riesling today. We have been friends with Red Newt winery ever since we first opened our store in May 2000. See this video to meet our friend, winery owner Dave Whiting … he made the wine.
Red Newt is more than a winery. Its Bistro has become the center of the Finger Lakes Local Food community. Enjoy this video of their Circle Riesling Sorbet recipe, and stop by UnCorked to try a sip before it’s gone.
